Odisha CM to launch City CCTV Surveillance Project

Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Bhubaneswar city’s much-awaited CCTV Project on 5 February 2015.

The first phase of this project will be completed by the total installation of 28 CCTV cameras at crucial locations within the city.

In the second phase, around 40 additional cameras will be installed, and in the third phase around 22 are expected to be deployed.

A meeting regarding the project launch has already been held at the Commissioner Police headquarters between senior police officials and the concerned CCTV company officials.

The state Government has assigned an American company for the installation of high frequency CCTV cameras in PCR vans and at various strategic locations within the city.

The installation cost is Rs 10 crore in the first phase, with the total project likely to amount to a total of Rs 23 crore.

The surveillance system is designed to alert the control room about unlawful gathering of people and presence of unattended objects at the same place for more than five minutes.

The system is equipped with command and control system to curb criminal activities and video data analysis.
