Synectics cooks up CCTV solution for Swedish casinos

The Svenska Spel (Swedish Games) organisation operates casinos across Sweden, in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmo and Sundsvall. Each gaming facility has been operational between five and eight years, and employs a legacy surveillance system.

Wishing to upgrade their systems and take advantage of the latest in technology developments, Svenska Spel chose Synectics’ SynergyPro command and control solution, and Modular Digital Recording System (MDRS).

Per Lundkvist, Svenska Spel’s chief security and risk officer, said: “Throughout the sites, we are expanding to over 1,000 channels of recording in order to meet with the Swedish Gaming Board’s recommendations and requirements for the coming years.

“It is critical that each installation has a system with the best possible picture quality attainable in order for each casino team to extract the most security and managerial benefit from the CCTV images.

“As these systems are ‘mission critical’ at each venue, one of our greatest priorities was to ensure the images from our camera networks would be unaffected in the event of a component failure. Synectics were able to provide us with comprehensive failover responses to a variety of component malfunction scenarios, to ensure that our images remain unaffected and continue to be effectively archived in this situation.”

Each casino will be provided with up to four Synectics Synergy Pro systems, with integration to respective access control and electronic point-of-sale systems. Deploying camera switching via a Synectics Tesseract Matrix, all camera images will be H.264 encoded before being digitally stored.
