Fire doors white paper: A Time to Act

If you thought IFSEC was just wall to wall CCTV – think again.

IFSEC is launching several new features and revamping some existing favourites for its 2017 edition.

The security industry is evolving fast in terms of technology (eg the rise of IP, cyber security and the internet of things), the threat landscape (eg growing terror and cyber threats) and how the supply chain does business.

Based on your feedback and the needs of our changing audience, we’ve introduced new services, technologies, seminar theatres and show areas to enhance your experience and cater to the entire supply chain, in the UK and internationally.

Here are six of the brand new, or revamped, features for 2017. Register here for your free ticket.

1. Borders & Infrastructure Expo

Long the go-to event for security installers, integrators and distributors, IFSEC International has been adapting to its increasingly diverse visitor demographic for several years now.

That is why 2017 marks the launch of Borders & Infrastructure Expo, sponsored by Genetec. Catering to senior security professionals from government, utilities, transport, logistics, sports stadia and events, and border control and law enforcement, Borders & Infrastructure will provide solutions and education around counter-terror, border security and the protection of critical national infrastructure.

This brand new show within IFSEC 2017 will host leading suppliers of innovative solutions in cyber, perimeter, UAVs, surveillance and other cutting-edge technologies. The expo will also feature an exclusive meeting service to pair high value buyers with exhibitors, as well as a dedicated seminar theatre tackling security trends, pitfalls and best practice for high-security sectors of critical national importance.

Borders & Infrastructure will welcome a range of brand new exhibiting companies including L3 Security & Detection Systems who will be showcasing the SafeView and trace detection solutions, CLD Fencing who’ll be presenting a range of perimeter fencing solutions. In addition we welcome back Parking Facilities who’ll be displaying their selection of automatic barriers, automatic bollards, automatic sliding gates, cantilever gates, turnstiles and speed gates.

2. Professor Brian Cox OBE!

OK, so not exactly a ‘feature’ or representative of a ‘revamp’, but we believe that securing Professor Brian Cox OBE as one of 2017’s keynotes is a major coup.

The eminent physicist, presenter of the BBC’s The Wonders Of… series and prolific scientific writer topped a recent poll of preferred keynote speakers among the P&M audience by a wide margin.

Challenging any perception of physicists as socially awkward, badly dressed nerds, he was, somewhat incongruously, also a keyboard player for bands D:Ream and Dare in the 1990s and has become something of a pin-up.

We’re also pretty chuffed that Dame Kelly Holmes and Simon Weston CBE have agreed to speak. Click here to find out more.

3. The Drone Zone

A report from consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has estimated that, by 2020, about $127 billion worth of labour and business services could be replaced by drones globally.

Officially launched at IFSEC 2016, the Drone Zone will return to ExCeL London bigger, better and now more appropriately housed, centre stage, within Borders & Infrastructure Expo.

You might want to find out how drones can aid security at sports events, in counter terror or in traffic monitoring. You may want to protect your people and assets against drones with anti-drone tech. You may simply wish to see this cutting-edge technology in action. Whatever your reasons, the Drone Zone will provide some compelling aerial theatre in the heart of IFSEC.

You’ll have the chance to speak to experts from leading drone manufacturers and, of course, see them in action, flying above your head within London ExCel.

4. Free Meeting Service

To ensure IFSEC International cements its place as the best place to do business for the international security industry – and is not seen as just another trade show – we’ve revamped our 1 to 1 meeting service.

Acting as matchmaker, we can get you face time with exhibitors who can help you secure the best, most cost-effective products and solutions. Use our meetings service to pre-book your meetings ahead of your visit – a vast improvement on the traditional exhibition format, where you’re left hovering, frustrated, for the crowds to clear on an exhibitor’s stand.

This free service guarantees meetings with the people you want to meet, when you want to meet them, and the chance to capitalise on thousands of in-show special offers and pricing deals. You can then spend the rest of your valuable time checking out cutting-edge security products, networking at the bar and learning about the latest security trends and best practice in our four theatres – more of which below.

5. Brand-new seminar theatre

IFSEC 2017 will feature a brand new seminar theatre. Hosted within Borders & Infrastructure Expo, the Borders & Infrastructure Theatre will feature seminars, case studies and panel debates dedicated to counter terror, border security and the protection of critical national infrastructure. Anyone with a standard IFSEC pass can access the Borders & Infrastructure Theatre.

The Tavcom Theatre, meanwhile, offers technical advice to installers, integrators and engineers on installing, maintaining and optimising security systems.

The ever-popular Security Management Theatre will this year have an even bigger focus on getting the best out of IP surveillance, access control, intruder alarms and other security technology, while the Smart theatre is branching out from last year’s home automation focus to cover smart commercial buildings, integrated security solutions and the internet of things.

6. Installer World sponsored by RISCO

Not forgetting the thousands of installers, integrators and engineers who return to IFSEC year after year, in 2017 we’re dedicating a specific area of the show to these loyal visitors. Installer World, which is sponsored by RISCO (find them on stand D1275), will bring together manufacturers and distributors, the Tool Zone, workwear, the Engineers of Tomorrow competition, recruitment consultants and a networking bar – all in one place.

This year we welcome Anglia Tools as our exclusive partner for the Tool Zone, where visitors will be able to sample a wide range of hand and power tools and take advantage of some discounts and special offers exclusive to IFSEC visitors.

We also welcome VanTainer and their range of van racking and storage systems which are perfectly suited to the rigours and demands faced by today’s installers and integrators.

Offering our most longstanding audience more reasons to visit than ever before and expanding our appeal to the rest of the industry, IFSEC 2017 is set to be our best, most ambitious show yet. Whether you’re an installer, integrator, head of security, consultant or work in government or law enforcement, make sure you don’t miss out on Europe’s largest security exhibition.

IFSEC International takes place 20-22 June 2017, London ExCeL. Get your free badge now.
