‘Smart’ Home Camera with Face Recognition Technology Launched by Netatmo

Netatmo, a company that develops ‘smart’ consumer electronics has launched an award-winning biometrics camera with face recognition technology.

Welcome recognises each family member or resident and notifies users the moment it detects an unfamiliar face. The biometrics camera sends the name of the person it sees directly to users’ smartphones.

Welcome won four awards at the 2015 CES Innovations Awards in the following categories: Smart Home, Home Appliances, Digital Imaging and Tech for a Better World.

“Netatmo is proud to present Welcome. Its outstanding technology makes today’s smart homes even smarter,” says Fred Potter, Netatmo’s CEO who founded the company in 2011.

“Welcome addresses two major consumer needs: to know when their loved ones are home and to be aware if a stranger breaks into their residence. Welcome brings piece of mind to all family members”.

Camera tags that extend the camera’s reach will be sold separately. These tags, which can be placed indoors or outdoors, on windows, doors or driveway gates, will continue to send signals of any movement occurring on the user’s smartphone.

Welcome will be available from the second quarter of 2015. The Welcome App is compatible with iPhones operated by iOS 8 and Android smartphones 4.3 and above.
