Rottguard: Direct Acting Low Pressure (DLP) Fire Suppression Systems
Rottguard manufactures direct acting low pressure (DLP) fire suppression systems, using heat sensitive pneumatic tube, for the protection of unoccupied spaces. Here, Gerard Linehan, Managing Director for the company, talks viewers through Rottguard’s range of DLP systems that offer ‘round the clock’ protection from the devastating consequences of fire.
With models designed for a variety of scenarious, the DLP systems have been tested to LPS 1666 and internationally recognised test fires, as per NFPA, AS ISO & I.S. EN standards. DLP systems extinguish fire automatically when the 6mm pressurised tube, attached to the non-conductive clean agent extinguishant storage vessel bursts. This happens on exposure to flames in excess of 80°C, thus releasing the gaseous suppressant, orientated in the direction of the fire and leaving no residue.
During the live Q&A session, Gerard was posed questions on the following subjects:
Has Rottguard provided the systems to schools? And which models are most appropriate?
What is the agent used for protecting fume hoods? Is it compatible with the use of oxidising chemicals in fume hoods?
Is CO2 still permitted, or is only for specific processes or applications?
In which instances are dry powder systems better than wet chemical systems?
