Mark Dachtler, international development manager at Avon Barrier, which specialises in security barriers, road blockers, bollards, sliding automatic gates, discusses the upcoming IFSEC show in Southeast Asia.

IFSEC Global.com: Why is it important for you to attend IFSEC Southeast Asia?

MD: To raise Avon Barriers profile in the Southeast Asia region.

IG: What are your main goals for IFSEC Southeast Asia 2014?

To identify, promote and engage with consultants, contractors and end users of our specialist hostile vehicle mitigation barriers.

IG: What do you think will be the hot topics at this year’s show?

We would like to emphasise the need to protect critical infrastructure and high value assets in the region.

IG: Can you briefly outline the solutions and products that will be showcased on your stand in September?

Avon Barrier will be presenting solutions for high security access control and in particular crash tested hostile vehicle mitigation barriers.SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

IG: Are you targeting end users, installers/integrators or perhaps consultants this year, and what’s influencing your decision here?

We not only need to influence end user and installers, but also engage with consultants, to make sure the correct equipment, fit for purpose and with the appropriate certification is being specified.

IG: Are you targeting any particular vertical sector at present? If so, why? What opportunities do you see emerging?

We aren’t targeting any particular sector, but we traditionally operate in the oil and gas sector and areas requiring very high security protection.

IG: What do you think is the most exciting theme currently happening in Southeast Asia? Infrastructure developments such as airport expansion and upgrades.

In your opinion, what’s the biggest challenge the security industry currently faces? Locally manufactured products that don’t meet international standards, but undermine price and are not proven fit for purpose?

IG: What’s your company doing to promote the corporate scial responsibility/green agenda?

Avon Barriers equipment is manufactured from recyclable materials and we can, where required, use biodegradable material such as hydraulic fluid. We are also looking to further develop our range of energy saving models.

Do you participate in IFSEC shows located in other regions? If so, how do you find it beneficial to be involved in multiple regions?

Avon Barrier participate regularly in, IFSEC & OSH Arabia and IFSEC India. We find the advantage is that we know who to talk to, we trust the organisers and we understand the format of the show.

Which means we make the most of the opportunities and get the best value out of our spend.
