BSIA to share industry Best Practice at Information Destruction event
Aimed at sharing Best Practice among suppliers and service providers within the information destruction sector, the event will take place on Wednesday 8 June and is “essential” for those who wish to remain up-to-speed in terms of the key developments across the industry.
With continuous legislative changes impacting on the way in which sensitive information is handled, and companies facing hefty fines (in addition to negative repercussions on customer confidence) as a result of data breaches, effective information destruction is increasingly highlighted as an essential requirement for businesses.
It’s with these factors in mind that the BSIA is offering professionals working in the industry the chance to share Best Practice by attending its “unique” conference and exhibition.
Marketing, strategy, recycling for profit
2010’s inaugural event proved to be extremely successful, with delegates treated to informative presentations from organisations such as Cambridge Professional Academy, SCA Recycling UK, Statius Management Services and KPMG LLP covering a range of topics (including mergers and acquisitions, marketing and strategy and recycling for profit).
Russell Harris, chairman of the BSIA’s Information Destruction Section, commented: “This year, the event promises to bring even more of an insight into what is topical in the world of information destruction.”
Speakers in 2011 will include the Information Commissioner’s Office lead policy officer David Reynolds, David Crook (managing director of Arjowiggins Graphic, who’ll be speaking about closed loop recycling and the sustainability aspect of the business) and Martin Hutchins.
Hutchins is the director of the Cambridge Professional Academy, and he’ll be covering specialist sales training.
Harris added: “The event provides the perfect platform for industry suppliers to exhibit their products and services and engage with their target customer base.”
Host venue is the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.

The BSIA’s Information Destruction Section consists of companies that securely destroy a range of confidential information, including paper, DVDs and computer hard-drives.
Section members also destroy items (such as branded products and uniforms) that could potentially cause problems if they fall into the wrong hands, and already have extensive experience of supplying solutions to a wide range of customers.
