According to Lumidigm, the solution can read fingerprints through snow, dust, oil creams and gloves.
Plug and play installable, the readers are vandal-resistant and come in a range of colours. They also integrate easily with existing card and fob systems, i-Evo said.
“Biometrics has been proven time and time again to overcome all of the security issues found with card and fob systems,” said Shaun Oakes, managing director of i-Evo.
“However, the cost of biometric systems coupled with their reliability issues has, until now, curtailed profits and industry growth. Lumidigm’s multispectral imaging sensors eradicate these issues and provide us with a quick, simple and cost-effective solution for our integrators to promote to their users.”
Lumidigm’s fingerprint sensors have been designed to capture fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin so that dryness or damaged and worn fingers should be read easily.
Multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarisation techniques have been deployed to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin, Lumidigm said.
i-Evo biometric readers are used by schools, corporate buildings, universities, hospitals, apartments, perimeter control, construction sites and offices among others.
