State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Stanley CSS purchases three security companies

The purchase of Smiths, Raysil and SRP includes the operations of each business with expertise in installing, servicing, inspecting, maintaining and monitoring intrusion alarms, fire alarms, access control and video surveillance systems.

The acquisition of these businesses includes mostly commercial accounts including top universities, telecommunications, financial, healthcare and retail customers throughout the UK. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

For Stanley CSS, part of Stanley Black & Decker, the acquisition is part of a planned dynamic growth strategy in the UK.

During 2010 alone, Stanley CSS completed and launched its first UK SSAIB certified ProtectionNet Customer Service Centre (among the largest data and monitoring central stations in the UK, with capacity to monitor over 50,000 customers) and recruited two regionally based sales teams as part of an organic growth initiative.

The acquisition of the three security companies continues this expansion plan, bringing some 5,500 new customers into the company, along with a team of committed staff.

Commitment to growth
Tony Byerly, president of Stanley CSS North America and United Kingdom Direct, said:”The acquisition of these three local companies continues our commitment to growing our global electronic security business.

“This acquisition gives us additional resources in the United Kingdom and makes us even stronger for existing and potential customers in that market. This acquisition fits well with our existing business and supports our strategy of global reach with a local touch for customers.

“As we continue to expand our business in the United Kingdom, through organic and acquisitive growth, we look forward to providing Stanley CSS’s unparalleled commitment and dedication to operational excellence across the five customer touchpoints: account management, installation, service, monitoring and billing to our new customers.

Customer focus
Alistair Compton, Regional Vice President – United Kingdom, said: “We’re excited to be adding Smiths, Raysil and SRP customers and associates to the Stanley family.

“We currently operate six Stanley CSS offices throughout the United Kingdom and a world-class monitoring centre in Swindon. I am confident that customers and associates alike will be pleased with Stanley CSS’s high level of customer service and security protection.”
