WATCH: 2019 Engineers of Tomorrow winner interviews

IFSEC Global catches up with the winners of the highly respected 2019 Engineers of Tomorrow competition, which is designed to recognise and showcase the talents of the next generation of fire and security installers from across the UK.

The competition helps to raise the profile of engineering apprenticeships and the opportunities they represent within the sector. Taking place at IFSEC and FIREX International each year, winners of regional heats compete in a live installation challenge at the show, where over 34,000 visitors are in attendance. In addition, the 2020 winners will proceed to the final of WorldSkills UK LIVE, the nation’s premier skills, apprenticeships and careers event.

Stakeholders involved in the IFSEC & FIREX Engineers of Tomorrow competition include Skills for Security, CSL, NSI and SSAIB, while additional support comes from BSIA, FIA and Texecom Academy.

Winners are also invited along to the Security & Fire Excellence Awards for free where they are applauded by the rest of the industry. In the video below, you can hear directly from the competitors, who offer their honest opinions of what it means to have been selected as a winner.

NEW FOR 2020: The top eight security apprentices will proceed to the final at WorldSkills UK LIVE, taking place at Birmingham NEC on 19-21 November. Attracting over 70,000 visitors, WorldSkills UK is the UK’s largest skills, apprenticeships and careers event. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be presented to the top three and they will receive a cash prize at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards.
