“If I would be given a chance to start all over again, I would choose network marketing.” Bill Gates
Networking is a critical aspect of any industry, and the security industry is no exception. In fact, says Mark Wall, Managing Director of Wall2Wall Group, it is particularly critical to our sector due to our unique nature.
Here, Mark highlights the importance of in-person networking in the security industry and why he considers it to be invaluable, not only to open doors but also enter opportunities that are vital to business.
It’s crazy to think that just three years ago we had entered a national lockdown. The ideals of networking, events and exhibitions and even the premise of human-to-human interaction was put to a grinding holt for almost two years. Arguably in 2023, we are finally back in full flow on how best to take advantage of one of the most effective tools for professional development.
Embracing technology
For the security industry it is vital to stay up to date with the latest technology and trends. The environment we operate in is constantly evolving and networking provides an effective way to stay up-to-date on these developments.
By attending even the low-key open days to the grand exhibitions, conferences and seminars, we can learn about the latest integration capabilities, cloud and biometrics, and advances in AIOT (artificial intelligence of things) and its ecosystems.
Traditional security systems do not natively include nonvideo-based environment sensors. Yet, at events, we can discuss together the growing demand from end-users for additional sensors to be integrated into cameras and video management systems (VMS) to measure data such as temperature, humidity, smoke, particulates, water and carbon monoxide. Arguably, the divide between building, city, and video management is shrinking and we need to be prepared.
