Milestone launches latest version of XProtect IP video software

Described as having “infinitely scalable federated architecture, extended user rights, bookmarking, multi-stage video grooming and support for edge storage”, the company’s latest offering is geared towards optimising databases.

Among the features included with the product are extended user rights for customising user access and operation by skill levels, tasks or time profiles and alarm management, designed to give overviews for “enhanced alarm handling” with rule definitions for event triggers and dynamic camera previews.

It also has a bookmark incidents function in both live and playback modes with time-synchronised video previews, multi-stage storage and edge storage support.

The latter, described by Milestone as “ground-breaking technology”, can be deployed as the cameras providing onboard storage become available from the manufacturers.

It has been configured to increase system reliability during maintenance down-time or for installations with cameras on wireless, public internet or in other environments where network connections may be temporarily lost.
