The Video Surveillance Report 2022

Paxton, the Brighton-based access control company, design and manufacture market leading IP access control, door entry and building intelligence systems for smart buildings.

For over 30 years, Paxton have developed install access control solutions. and provide world class technical support and training. Approximately

At present, around 25,000 buildings are secured by Paxton globally each year, including buildings in education, healthcare, retail, leisure, commercial and public sector.

Below is an interview with Adam Stroud, CEO of the Paxton Group, about what the access control specialist looks for in installer/integrator partners and how you can benefit from installing their kit.

IFSEC Global: Could you give us an overview of how Paxton work with installers?

Adam Stroud: At Paxton we work very closely with our installers. We have become market leaders through our efforts to listen to and exceed the expectations of our customer base, paying exceptional attention to the development of high quality products, customer care and support.

We invest significantly in the free training and education of our installers worldwide. Sessions are designed to provide installers with the essential knowledge needed to fit our products, ensuring installation is correct, reducing the time taken to fix errors on site and therefore improving their profits.

Our technical support is available six days a week, 52 weeks a year ensuring installers can easily contact us with any queries.

IG: What are the attractions of Paxton for installers?

AS: I believe my response to how we work with installers goes some way in answering this question. As well as our investment in free training and industry-leading support, there are other factors that contribute towards Paxton being number 1 in the UK access control market.

This year we are celebrating our 30th birthday. That’s 30 years’ experience in the industry, 30 years developing and manufacturing high quality products, and 30 years of getting to know our customers.

We have gained extensive experience within the security industry during this time, the vast majority obtained from listening to our installers. From readily available and accessible technical support, to simple to install and specify products with a 5 year no quibble returns policy, we believe that we give our installers what they want.

We are constantly developing and improving our products, and hope to reach our 60th birthday still offering innovative and reliable solutions to our installers.

In this video Adam Stroud talks about the net10

paxtonIG: Tell us more about Paxton’s installer training?

AS: Paxton Installer training is free with comprehensive and simple workshops taking place across the UK. Training focuses primarily on our installer, giving them the opportunity to learn about Paxton products from the experts and familiarise themselves with all the benefits the products offer.

This enables the installer to deliver security solutions that better meet the needs of end users and ensures they are confident with the product when recommending it to customers

IG: How has the role of the installer changed?

AS: Historically, installers and IT specialists had rarely worked together when it came to security systems. As technology has developed, the industry demanded products that are innovative and efficient which has meant a shift towards IT managed security systems, within a fully integrated security infrastructure.

As the industry develops and embraces the shift in focus to IT, product offerings have expanded and we are witnessing different competitors and skillsets being introduced to the market. An increasing number of IT technicians have moved into the role of installer within the security market.

This demonstrates that skills are now interchangeable across both industries and are being utilised in a way to deliver the best solutions for the end user.

IG: How is the installer-vendor relationship changing – either/or with Paxton specifically and the industry generally?

AS: I don’t consider our relationship with installers to have changed over the years but rather to have evolved. We have always recognised the importance of a close relationship and have learnt a lot by listening to their feedback about products, service and training.

As Paxton has grown and established in different regions, we have applied our practice of providing local support and education with dedicated teams established overseas.

Developments within the industry have meant adapting our training to cover the most relevant topics and skills, for example, the move towards IP has meant a change in learning requirements.
